Allow me to introduce myself—I am Shelly-Ann Mohammed, the founder of LA&CCA. My journey in law, leadership, and fostering change combined with my passion for creating solutions to provide greater opportunity to the Latin American & Caribbean community, led me to found in 2013 the Association of Caribbean Corporate Counsel which grew to over 12,000 members and to the launch of the Latin American & Caribbean Counsel Association. With over a decade of experience as a lawyer and CEO of various professional organizations, I am deeply passionate about driving forward-looking strategies that align with the dynamic shifts in the legal world. My role as the head of ACCA Caribbean and South America granted me invaluable insights into working with key stakeholders to shape our region's future.
“Holland & Knight is proud to be a founding member of the new Latin American & Caribbean Counsel Association International Advisory Board. We look forward to working with the LA&CCA to champion legal reforms and advance business interests through education, networking, and advocacy. We understand the difference a united, informed legal community can bring to the region and are excited to be part of this new effort and working with corporate counsel,” said Kelly-Ann Cartwright, Partner at Holland & Knight.
"LA&CCA is poised to serve as a catalyst for change in the Latin American and Caribbean legal sector. I believe its mission to empower, collaborate and co-create across in-house teams, law firms and alternative legal service providers is essential. By uniting, they can redefine how legal services are delivered, future-proof the organizations they serve and contribute significantly to society,” said Angélique Parisot-Potter, Executive Vice President, Business Integrity & Group General Counsel of Massy.
“We are looking forward to the positive impact that the Association will no doubt have on the local and regional legal landscape. Wishing the Association all the success!” said M. Glenn Hamel-Smith, Partner, Head - Banking & Finance at Hamel-Smith.
